Ohio Ready to Read is a joint initiative of the Ohio Library Council and State Library of Ohio to reach at-risk families and teach them about the importance of early learning.

Our mission is to share early literacy information with librarians, library staff, child care providers, early childhood educators, children's advocates and political decision makers. We promote the six early literacy skills necessary to prepare children, birth to age 5, to be ready for kindergarten and ready to learn to read. We encourage Ohio public libraries to provide early literacy services that are responsive to your communities, and we support your early literacy work.

This wiki is designed to be a space for libraries to share their programs, materials, resources, and ideas for promoting early literacy and supprorting children, parents, and caregivers.

This wiki is a companion to the Ohio Ready to Read website and is under the responsbility of the Ohio Ready to Read Task Force.  Thanks to Justin Isaac, who redesigned and thoroughly updated the ORTR website and wiki in 2011. Justin's participation was made possible through a Kent State University School of Library and Information Science Master's Practicum assignment at the State Library of Ohio.
