Public libraries play a key role in ensuring that every Ohio child starts kindergarten ready to learn to read.

The Ohio Ready to Read Wiki is a space for libraries to share their programs, materials, resources, and ideas for promoting early literacy and supporting children, parents, and caregivers.  Learn from other libraries' experiences, download materials to adapt to your community, and contribute your own ideas (here's how)!  This wiki is a service of Ohio Ready to Read, an initiative of the Ohio Library Council and State Library of Ohio.

Early Literacy Activities - This page features some great examples of crafts and activities that Ohio public libraries have used to support early literacy skills. They are organized by the Six Skills and by the Five Practices (talk, sing, read, write, play) highlighted in ECRR2.

Using ECRR2 and ECRR1 - this is a page for you to share your thoughts, ideas, and programs or outreach efforts that you implement which incorporate the new Every Child Ready to Read 2nd edition materials.  Are you switching over to use exclusively the new workshops and focusing on the Five Practices?  Or are you finding ways to integrate the materials from the original ECRR with the new materials?  How are you sharing the Six Skills and the Five Practices with the parents and caregivers in your community?  Libraries reporting on the results of their 2011 ECRR LSTA Special Grant are asked to post information here.  Whether you are reporting on grant results or sharing updates on your use of ECRR2 outside the grant program, all ideas are welcome!
